A foot wound can start without any pain

  1. Numbness. Nerve damage dulls feeling.
  2. A cut nobody notices. Small injuries go unseen.
  3. An ulcer. Poor circulation slows healing.
  4. Infection. Late treatment makes it worse.
  5. A limb at risk.

Recognise early. Treat early. Save the foot. Save the limb.

For doctors

A practical workshop on neuropathy screening, wound and infection care, off-loading and when to refer. It includes a live wound-care demonstration with ZioHeal®, and a panel on one question: can we prevent diabetic foot amputations?

ZioHeal® is a zeolite–iodine wound patch. It is shown as one option under medical supervision. It does not replace vascular assessment, infection control, debridement, off-loading, glucose control or surgery.

Questions for the panel
  • When should neuropathy screening begin?
  • Which wounds can be managed at home?
  • When does a wound need hospitalisation?
  • When are antibiotics really needed?
  • When should debridement be done?
  • How much does blood sugar control matter for healing?
  • When should we suspect vascular disease?
  • How does off-loading prevent repeat ulcers?
  • Can advanced dressings reduce complications?
  • How can wounds be monitored at home?
  • When is it an emergency?

For patients and families

A live webcast in plain language, on looking after your feet and knowing when to get help.

What we will answer
  1. Why can diabetes damage the feet?
  2. What is diabetic neuropathy?
  3. How do I know if I have lost sensation?
  4. What does a dangerous foot ulcer look like?
  5. Can a tiny wound become serious?
  6. Should I walk barefoot if my feet feel normal?
  7. How often should I check my feet?
  8. When can care be given at home?
  9. When should I go to hospital straight away?
  10. How can I prevent an amputation?

Care at home

For some patients, foot care can continue at home: specialist visits, dressings, debridement when needed, and glucose monitoring. It suits people with numb feet, a wound that is not healing, or difficulty travelling to a clinic.

Questions

Can the public come to the venue?

The workshop is for doctors and healthcare professionals. Patients and families join online.

Does the webcast replace a doctor's visit?

No. If you have a foot wound, numbness or any worry about your feet, have them examined by a doctor.

When is it an emergency?

Do not wait for the event. Go to a hospital if a foot wound has spreading redness, swelling, pus, a foul smell, black skin or severe pain, or if you have a wound and a fever or feel unwell. When in doubt, get it checked.
